Max Brill's Sons, Inc. was still the incarnation of this family company in the December 1935 Luggage & Leather Goods, page 48.

The Pilgrimage to Europe was an annual event for US handbag designers before WWII. Most of these trips were taken by luxury liner, and the comings and goings were noted by the industry. Versatility for Spring

"Again this season Max Brill is showing a large selection of soft dressmaker type calf bags to retail from $5.95 to $10.95. black, navy, tan and red are the featured colors. Many of the numbers are trimmed with cartridge pleats for which this house is well known. The group includes top zipper vagabonds, underarms with divided pockets and several novelties such as a top handle pouch with three part frame. Outstanding is number 7201. This has a top zipper with pockets on each side. Each pocket has a large flap and the long narrow body of the bag is ornamented with smocking.

In the $5 retail group the firm is making some attractive alligator calf numbers in beige, red, navy and sportan. A two-zipper underarm is specially designed for business women and combines utility with style. Thirty-six models in patent are being featured. Many have interesting cape trim. Cartridge pleats again play an important part in the designs."

Lowengart & Co full page ad in the April 1942 issue of "Luggage & Leather Goods," highlighted Jenny and her preference for Gahna Leather for her line. Imported from India, it's availability was not curtailed at this early stage in WWII.

"I AM FEATURING LEATHERS THIS SEASON, says Jenny of Jenny Bags, "FOR THREE GOOD REASONS.FIRST, they are tops in durability. Second, they're the perfect answer to the new demand for leathers with a fancy finish. Third, I have found them quite adaptable to my Dressmaker Bags. Gahna Leathers are a must in my new line."

HANDBAG DESIGNERS SAY GAHNA* __ THE LEATHERS WITH "TOUCH - APPEAL
Smart handbag designers are discovering the leathers that precisely fit the new style trend to tailored smartness. They're Gahna-imported from British India, grained by hand and tanned in America. The miracle is, that for all their softness and seeming delicacy, Gahna Leathers are sturdy, durable? washable, scratch-resistant. And in all their range of love'' colors they will not fade or bleed off on gloves. With that creased, crushed, cared-for look, and custom-made touch, they lend an air to handbags that flatter every ensemble. So, to be sure, use Gabna-the leathers with "Touch-Appeal." "

Handbag is of Gahna Morocco. Created and designed by Jenny of Jenny Bags.
