December 1935 (pg 59) “Luggage & Leather Goods” carries this ad for a nifty lighted mandbag called the Jewelite.

The patent was applied for on March 11, 1932 but was not granted until May 28, 1935 to Walter O. Benjafield. Patent 2,003,103 This is an ideal example of the cumbersome and timeconsuming problem of design protection that led 20 years later in the copyright law. LegalDecisions
