The "What's New in Handbags" column of the same issue (page 78) included news about Perfection's Fall 1949 line. These styles retailed for $2.95.

Feature Colored Linings

"The warmth of summer colors will be carried into fall by a low-price firm whose bag will be gaily lined in contrasting colors. Zippered pockets, three and four-part frame styles as well as occasional use of braid handles are additional salable features. Boxes, pouches, vanities and bags with fittings are made of suedine, plastic patent, faille, broadcloth and calf or alligator grained plastic.
In broadcloth a dressmaker style has a covered frame base with a split tunic effect. A duo of covered buttons near top center offer style interest. Double braid handles on another softly shirred pouch with a clear lucite clasp add interest.
Vanities are deep and provide unexpected room because they have flat wide bases. One version has a center zippered pocket while another boasts attractive golden fittings including a metal compact, lipstick container, comb, mirror, change purse and a compartment designed to hold a package of cigarettes, as illustrated by the dummy package that comes with every bag."
