970642: Indian embroidered evening clutch bag in Moorish pattern on black velvet. Gold and silver metal bullion is stitched front and back, each pattern with a central bead. Several of these are missing. Fully lined in spotless black satin. Three open interior pockets. Embroidery is in good condition, but not perfect. Measures 8 x 1 x 5". SOLD for $35 in 2002

990505: Indian Embroidered Abstract Clutch Bag, stitched in two kinds of silver bullion in a Mandella Pattern on powder blue velvet. Back is plain blue velvet with embroidered handstrap. Fully lined in blue satin with one open pocket. Some wear to velvet’s nap, otherwise excellent condition. Measures 8 x 1 x 5". SOLD for $35 in 2000

Metal Bags

Spectacular enameled metal evening bag made in India in the 1980's. The teardrop shaped body is formed of embossed brass and is decorated in a floral geometric design in red, black, gold and green. A pair of peacocks grace the top line. The interior is fully lined in cherry red suede cloth. The 34-inch chain handle tucks inside if you prefer a clutch. Excellent condition inside and out. Measures 6 5/6 x 2 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches. Value $55
