Alligator Bags

A00763: Spectacular 2-toned alligator Convertible clutch. The worn strap handle has been replaced with a hefty metal chain. The tan suede-cloth interior features two gold-corded open pockets and one metal zip pocket. The lining shows some slight wear at the flex points of the gussets but no other signs of use. Exterior shows typical edge wear. My guess is, based on the woven fabric label with its four-digit telephone number in Hong Kong, this bag dates pre-WWII. It’s a beauty! Measures 11 ½ x 2 ¼ x 6 ¼”. Circa 1950 A00512: Walborg Hong Kong Silver beaded bag with three dimensional flower front designed, outlined in concentric beaded rows which accentuate the unusual shape of the bag. The White satin interior has one large perfumes stain discoloring it. There’s a single large open pocket inside. A pretty bag in spite of the defects. Measures 7 1/2 x 1 x 5 1/2 inches. Vinyl Covered Rattan Basketweave bags circa 1965

A00607: Flamboyant red vinyl basket weave bag trimmed in encrusted metal handle, latch and front and back straps. Made by Guild Creations Hong Kong. The bag’s interior is fully lined with shiny red vinyl and features one open, gold-corded pocket. It’s circa 1965 and is as perfect as 35 years of shelf life will allow. Measures a spacious 11 x 6 x 7 inches. SOLD for $55 in 2001

C00127: Flamboyant Hounds tooth pattern vinyl covered basket weave handbag in Lipstick red, navy and white. The bag is handmade by “Adonia British Hong Kong.” The interior is fully lined in white vinyl with one open and one metal zip pocket. Dating this bag is difficult, but the metal zipper points to mid-60’s or early 70’s. The gold metal latch and hinged handles really sparkle. The bag perches atop four metal gumdrop feet. Excellent condition. Measures 9 ¾ x 5 x 7”. SOLD for $70 in 2003

Stylecraft Miami Made in Hong Kong

A00717: Curvaceous and sensuous briefcase style black Lucite bag by Stylecraft of Miami. This is the sixties vintage example and is marked made in Hong Kong.The interior is fully lined in black vinyl and features a single open pocket. The goldtone cool play at each lives to open. The high gloss body is in excellent condition with only very minor surface wear, especially on the bottom. All metal fittings are in fine condition including the for around the metal feet. 990349: Caramel swirl lucite and plastic covered woven reed bag by Tropical of Miami. Also marked "Made in Hong Kong" this is a 60’s vintage bag, desirable mostly for its unusual color. Warm energetic swirled Lucite form the front, back, top and single curved horseshoe handle, while the one piece sides and bottom is woven of reed covered in clear vinyl. Fully lined in off white vinyl with one metal zip and one open pocket. Excellent condition,. Measures 7 1/2 x 4 1/4 x 5 1/4". SOLD for $80 in 2000
