This display ad establishes the connection between this leather bag making company and Plastocraft, their plastic handbag line. ![]() The same July 1947 "Handbags Illustrated" issue features a Back to School article, including this charming Hesslein-Samstag example. Style 3055 retailed for $5.00. It was made in many colors in lizard or alligator grained leather. ![]() "Oh and ah! It looks just like alligator and will be worn smartly by the school crowd. It's alligator-grained leather in such appealing array of colors. Made by Hesslein-Samstag." Another example is used to illustrate "Beauty on a Budget" on page 47 of the same July 1947 "Handbags Illustrated."
