The 1940s

Evans Moves Showroom

"The showroom for the handbag division of the Evans Case Co. has moved to 33 East 33rd St., New York." (February 1942 issue of Luggage & Leather Goods, page 54.)

Coordinating accessories and new colors like "Town Bronze," a popular town brown color on "Washette" calf with a metallic finish, dramatic black antelope bag trimmed with jewelry and for the only decorative accent on the gown, feature a matching lapel jewel." (August 1942 "Luggage & Leather Goods," page 34)

The 1950s

The March 1950 issue of Harper's Bazaar includes this ad for Evans Matinee bag, carried by Jane Wyman, no less, after her 1948 divorce from Ronald Reagen.

"Vintage Vanity Bags and Purses" by Roselyn Gerson includes a copy of the 1953 trademark registration renewal (Numbers 500,850, 573,946 and 504,315) of the Evans Case Company logo.

The document indicates the trademark was first registered July 5, 1946 first used in May 1949. Alfred F. Reilly is listed as President of Evans Case Company.
