What's New In Handbags on page 52 of the same issue includes this Eagle handbag double saddlebag design in French Antelope. The bag retailed for a hefty $32.50, that's $245 in 2006 inflation adjusted dollars.

"Casual Accessories for the Easter Parade" were highlighted in the February 1950 issue of "Handbags and Fashion Accessories," pages 42-43

"SOFTLY manipulated accessories excel this spring. Here is a black calf bag by Eagle that has shelf-like fold of leather near its wide-opening metal frame and colored leather lining. Alcxette makes the welted cuff glace shortie with horizontal cross stitch and string bow. Cluster pin and earrings of colored glass beads and pearls with gold rondelles are by Heller-Deltah. Long iridescent taffeta fringed-edge scarf is from I. J. Nethe. Celancse 10 - rib umbrella has a metal ball handle and is Town Umbrella's copy of a French original shown in January issue of this magazine."

Eagle Puts Embroidery on Calf

Fanciful designs embroidered directly onto fine leathers and failles make an unusual group of bags at Eagle Handbag Company. One in particular features a picture frame border with an imaginative unicorn in the center, puffed for dimensional effect. The same technique is used on soft deerskin in more casual shoulder strap styles.. Other bags in the new Eagle line are outstanding for the deft manipulation and draping of calf.
