Du Barry Handbag Moves
Dan Platkin, head of the Du Barry Handbag Company of Los Angeles, and a well known designer in the West has moved to larger quarters at 1017 S. Grand Avenue.
Mr. Platkin has several patents to his credit, plus the distinction of having designed the first bag to match Walter De Liso shoes. He worked and studied in Paris for some time, then maintained a studio in New York, and finally settled in Los Angeles. He was among the first to recognize the need for specialized sportswear bags, and about eight years ago began to work closely with several sports and play shoe manufacturers. About the same time, he developed his "Bag-of-the-'Month" idea, a merchandising plan to keep a constant stream of new styles coming into the stores.
The capacity of the new factory is approximately 500 per day. Both leather and fabric styles are developed by this house.
