Belgium: Beautiful beaded bags: bead and tambour work: Deco styles before WWII, post war until mid 50’s

C00063: Heirloom quality 30’s vintage Hand Beaded Clutch bag form Belgium. The magnificent pastel embroidery is microscopic chain stitch in peach, powder blue and gray-green, outlined in gray. The four flowers on the front of the bag have prong set faceted jewel centers. This style of bag is called “Bead and Tambour” work. It is extremely labor intensive and to my knowledge is no longer done. The top five inch metal zipper opens to a spotless white taffeta interior with two open pockets. Woven fabric label reads “Handmade in Belgium.” Exquisite condition, inside and out and a definitive example of this type. Measures 7 ˝ x 1 x 5”. SOLD for $80 in 2002
