Location 1935: Andrew Geller In the 1930, Andrew Geller was a high style shoe store on Fifth Avenue. Shoes with coordinated bags were sold, but the focus was shoes. Fortunately for collectors, bags generally get less rough wear than shoes, so more have survived. D00062: Simply fabulous Andrew Geller Cranberry Red leather Faux Reptile bag has everything. The front and back are assembled of 2" wide strips of leather for rich effect. The gold lift-up latch opens the large center section, which is flanked front and back by large red faille lined open section. The latching section is lined in spotless red leather with one open and one metal zip pocket. Excellent condition, inside and out. Measures an ample 11 x 3 1/2 x 8" with double 13" handles. The unusual silver loop latch opens by turning the bottom fitting counterclockwise. The contoured envelope flap opens to reveal a shiny off-white satin interior with one open and one metal zip pocket. Some slight abrasion to the glossy satin indicates light use. Several tiny rough spots are present on the interior of the flap. Measures 8 ½ x 2 ½ x 6 ½” with 11” handle. The bag is available for sale for $55 at The Bag Lady Emporium. |
