Formation of the brand new Academy Handbag Co. was announced in the August 1942 issue of Luggage & Leather goods, page 54.

Academy Handbag Co. Organized

"Julius Goldberg, formerly with Rout-Rosenthal and Nat Flecker,' formerly of Queen Handbag Company have gone into business under the name of Academy Handbag Company. Located at 35 W. 32nd, the new firm will manufacture fabric handbags to retail at $1.69 and $1.95. General sales will be handled by Mr. Goldberg while Mr. Flecker assumes charge of production. Both gentlemen are very well known in the trade.
Soft, bright colored felt bags with wood and metal frames are being offered in the $1.69 range. Top handle and underarm styles are featured some of which have an extra small bag for Mother and Daughter promotion."

Sell A Bag For Every Mood was the notion in low price bag sales August 1942 "Luggage & Leather Goods," page 44.

For dressier occasions here is a soft faille bag mounted on a wood frame. The pleated ends are an unusual contrast with the tailored frame. One of a group to sell at $1.95 from Academy Handbag Co.
