Contemplate the mystical beauty of this brown leather and woven rice paper handbag. While the oriental look would point to a Far Eastern origin, research has shown this unusual bag was made in West Germany in the 60|s. The fragile one-inch wide rice paper strips are meticulously sewn to a backing material, producing a sturdy fabric. The shiny gold lift up latch opens to a leather-lined interior with two gold-corded open pockets and one expanding metal zip pocket. The lining shows some abrasion and two stains, one inside a pocket, the other at the very bottom of the bag. Measures 9 1/4 x 3 x 10 3/4 inches with a 14-inch handle. This item was part of the archives of the Bag Lady Emporium, originally in operation from 1996 through 2022. ![]() Related Pages: Germany |
