Sophisticated Evans black suede fitted handbags circa 1947. Similar bags are illustrated on pages 242-2 47 of "Vanity Bags & Purses" by Gerson, along with vintage dated advertising. The handsome disc shaped suede-trimmed latch and sparkling gold metal fittings offset the suede beautifully! The sumptuous red satin interior is detailed with numerous open pockets, designed for comb, compact, lipstick and lighter on one side, satin backed beveled glass hand mirror and pristine red satin coin purse with safety chain on the other side. With everything in this designated spot, there|s plenty of carrying capacity remaining. There is some wear to the sheen of the satin lining, otherwise the interior is flawless. The lipstick tube, compact with original puff and sifter, mirror and coin purse are in unused condition, with some aging apparent on the hand mirror. The detailing out of compact matches the patterning of the handbag frame. It|s a VERY desirable item for handbag or compact collectors. Measures 9 x 3 x 7 1/2 inches with double 14-inch handles. This item was part of the archives of the Bag Lady Emporium, originally in operation from 1996 through 2022. It sold for $195.00. ![]() Related Pages: EvansCaseCo |
