One of the rarest Lucite Bag, this Elgin-American tortoise bag conceals an entire Elgin-American vanity case behind the mirror which is the front of the bag! The vanity case includes the puff and original sifter, small lidded open compartment and a lipstick tube containing vibrant red lipstick. A frame mounted mirror inside the vanity folds down to reveal a secret compartment/cigarette case. This mirror shows its age. The lid-mounted mirror of the handbag itself is in excellent condition. The bags usable interior space measures 4 1/2 x 3 x 3 1/2”, less than spacious, but adequate. The bag is illustrated on page 47 of Gerson’s “Vanity Bags & Purses.” The value has appreciate since the book was released in 1997. Excellent condition. Measures 4 3/4 x 4 1/2 x 3 3/4”.
