Bienen-Davis has an illustrious history back to the 1930s and they created some remarkable designs. This unique example is a nice taupy-brown leather, embossed with a reptile texture. The bag and handle are suspended from a handsome gold bar with textures acorn finials, echoing the leather texture. Both front and back of the bag snap open to a pristine dark brown faille interior. The front side, embellished with an acorn trim, features 3 large open pockets, the largest lined in ivory faille, and a large metal zip pocket on the outer interior wall. The back compartment has a single large open pocket for the matching dark brown coin purse. The snap latches are VERY firm and carry the mirror image "R" logo of Randolph Rand, a New York handbag frame maker and dates the bag ca 1960.
