This example of the Sears 1951 Vinyl Faux Corde| handbag has the identical floral design shown in the example illustrated on page 152 of Ettinger|s "Handbags." The curving White Lucite trim adds flair. The interior is fully lined in navy taffeta with one open and one metal zip pocket. Receent research points to Lincoln Leather Goods as the likely maker of this bag, based on their Quarter page ad in "Handbags and Fashion Accessories" February 1950, page 12 for their exclusive "SIMILE CORDAY" vinyl. Condition is excellent with minor flexure damage near the exterior hinges. Measure 9 1/4 x 2 x 10 1/2 with a 13" handle.

This item was part of the archives of the Bag Lady Emporium, originally in operation from 1996 through 2022 (Inventory ID E00099). It sold for $40.00 in 2010.
